INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS

The State of Louisiana Fire Marshal rules and regulations require periodic inspection and testing of all life safety systems.  Other regulatory agencies, including Mineral Management Services (MMS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), and OSHA rules require periodic testing in accordance with their rules.

The building occupancy determines types of fire systems required by the Life Safety Code.

Commonly Used Fire Codes/Standards

·        Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) - The organization, office, or individual responsible for approving equipment and installation. 

·        Codes are minimum standards and usually become state law by adoption.
